TRUE Continues MLK Legacy with Day Of Service

MLK - DO SOMETHING DAY 2014 RECAP [Compatibility Mode]

TRUE was honored to partner with Radio One and City Year again for the annual Do Something Day Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service on January 20, 2014.  This year, over 500 dedicated members of the community participated in six service projects througout the region of Greater Cleveland.

I started Do Something Day three years ago as a way to transform Dr. King’s life and teachings into community service that helps empower and strengthen communities.  The mission of this grassroots initiative is to encourage civic engagement and civic responsibility through volunteerism, service learning and community participation.  By “being the change”, I aspire to challenge others—particularly young people—to understand the vital role we all play in bringing meaningful change to our communities by making service a daily part of life.

This year’s service projects included beautification and painting murals at several schools; writing letters and making paracord bracelets for deployed U.S. military; and MLK rememberance programs for children.
